I turn on all music sources first (CDJ's, Decks, PC etc.). Next make sure
all gains, master output etc of mixer are turned right down. Then turn your
mixer on, then your amp at zero volume. This makes sure that no sudden
spikes run through your gear and cause anything to blow up. Now get some
music playing on a source and adjust the gain on your mixer for that channel
to 0dB. Turn the master of the mixer up to full or anywhere you want to now
because the source signal is clean and not clipped. Finally turn up the
volume on your amp to suit the environment your playing in.
With each new track you cue up, play it at it's loudest part and adjust the
mixers gain for that channel to 0dB. Cue the track up again and when you
play the track it won't clip, the source signal is pure.
So as you can see clipping comes from too much gain at the mixer. Get that
wrong and it doesn't matter how much mixer output or amp volume you use your
sound will be clipped.
Hope this helps....
Post by DJ SpiderI do that anjii, I turned the amp to full last night then adjusted the sound
levels with the mixer using the gain and master volume. I didn't clip except
when I used my mic. So a good night was had by all!
Merry Xmas BTW!
